BLAZERS FALL SHORT TO ROCKETS AFTER 2ND PERIOD SETBACK
The Thompson Blazers came out of the gate firing on Saturday afternoon at Macarthur Island Sports Center. Just over a minute into the game the Blazers scored a quick goal by Keaton Gordon to put them up 1-0 early. However, the Rockets would respond in a matter of 9 seconds later to tie the game back up at 1-1. The Blazers dominated the play early in this game and with another goal in the first period scored by Tyler Collens, the Blazers found themselves up 2-1 over the Rockets. Credit to the skilled team from the Okanagan, though, as they powered back with two quick goals before the end of the 1st frame to take the lead into the intermission at a score of 3-2. It was all Rockets in the second period as the Blazers were frantic in their own zone. The Rockets capitalized in the second period and put their team up 6-2 after two periods. A quick regroup at intermission saw a refreshed and eager Thompson Blazers hockey team in the third period as the managed to hold the Rockets off the scoreboard and Keaton Gordon scored his second of the game off a turnover which gave him a breakaway. Final score in this game was Okanagan Rockets 6 and your Thompson Blazers 3. These two teams go head to head again tomorrow night as the Blazers travel down to Kelowna for a 5:15pm matchup at the Capital News Center.
