Program improvements since July 1st
The Thompson Blazers organization has taken many strides to improve their program since July 1st, 2013. The appointment of a new Head Coach (Mark Chase) and the introduction of Managing Director to the hockey club (Garry Bergquist) was just the beginning.
Since July 1st, the Blazers staff has had numerous obstacles to overcome, but after hours of meetings and hard work the Thompson Blazers have successfully moved back into the City of Kamloops permanently. The team will practice out of Memorial Arena where they have a dressing room and storage facility secured. A big thank-you to the City of Kamloops and Kamloops Minor Hockey goes out as without their contributions this would not have been possible.
The team will practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:45-4:00pm with their strength and conditioning program to follow on certain practice days at Memorial as well as run on Thursday evenings at Diverse Fitness up on McGill Rd in Kamloops. As it currently sits, the Blazers will play their home games out of ISC, Memorial and Mac Island’s Sports Center. In addition to this, 2-4 home games will be held within the Thompson-Nicola catchment area as specialty showcase games to allow other communities the opportunity to watch the Thompson Blazers play.
Please watch closely over the next few weeks as the Thompson Blazers head into preseason action in the BC Major Midget Hockey League. League schedule will be released in the second week of September. The Thompson Blazers are scheduled to open at home at Interior Savings Center on Saturday September 21st, 2013.
