THOMPSON BLAZERS HIRE NEW ASSISTANT COACH

August 7th, 2014

The Thompson Blazers are excited to announce that Steve Blundell has joined the team in the capacity of Assistant Coach.

Born and raised in Kamloops, Steve has a passion for the area and the sporting community. He played all his minor hockey with Kamloops(KMHA), and from the young age of 15 started out as a coaches helper with the younger age groups. In his early 20’s he took to coaching in the rep system and has done so for the past 20+ years. Spanning age groups from initiation through Midget AAA, Steve has watched and guided players to become better, more prepared athletes and better people.

He comes to us after spending the last 2 seasons with Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Wolfpack Men’s hockey. Steve will concentrate on his specialties of team defensive play and penalty killing.

Steve is married to his beautiful wife of 16+ years, Tammy. Together they have 2 children, Rhys (13 boy) and Haley (11 girl). The whole family is involved in various sports and as a unit support each others ventures in their respective activities.

Steve is also a certified Tennis pro (TPA) and has his teaching certification in such.  The Thompson Blazers look forward to having Steve on board for the 2014/15 BCMML Hockey Season.
